Setting up Stripe payouts

Badminton Village uses Stripe to process card payments and pay clubs directly. Connect your Stripe account once and session revenue lands in your bank account automatically.

Why we use Stripe

Direct to your bank

Payments go from the player's card to your NZ bank account. Badminton Village never holds your money beyond the processing window.

Trusted and secure

Stripe is used by millions of businesses globally. It handles all PCI-DSS compliance — you don't store card data.

Your own Stripe account

You get a real Stripe account (via Stripe Connect) that you can log in to directly for detailed transaction history and dispute management.

Automatic reconciliation

Every payout maps to the bookings it covers. Your Club Dashboard shows the breakdown, so your end-of-month reconciliation is straightforward.

How to connect Stripe

Setup takes about five minutes. You'll need your IRD number and NZ bank account details.

  1. 1

Go to Club Dashboard → Billing

Log in to your organiser account and open your Club Dashboard. Navigate to the Billing tab in the left sidebar.

  2. 2

    Click “Connect Stripe”

You'll be taken to Stripe's secure onboarding flow. Badminton Village uses Stripe Connect — your Stripe account is yours, linked to our platform.

  3. 3

    Complete Stripe onboarding

Stripe will ask for your business or personal details, IRD number (for tax purposes), and your NZ bank account number for payouts. This is a one-time process.

  4. 4

    Return to Badminton Village

Once Stripe onboarding is complete you'll be redirected back to your Club Dashboard. Your payout status will show as Active.

  5. 5

    You're ready to receive payments

From this point, any card payments made by players booking your sessions are processed through Stripe and queued for payout to your bank account.

Payment flow

What happens when a player pays

  1. 1Player completes checkout — card is charged immediately via Stripe.
  2. 2Stripe holds the funds. Your Club Dashboard shows the booking as Paid.
  3. 3The session takes place and the player is checked in.
  4. 4Badminton Village deducts its platform fee from the session total.
  5. 5The net amount (session fee minus platform fee) is added to your Stripe payout balance.
  6. 6Stripe pays out to your bank account on the standard T+2 schedule (see below).

If a player cancels before the session and receives a refund, the booking is removed from your payout batch. Your net payout adjusts automatically.

Payout timeline

Stripe pays out on a T+2 schedule — that is, funds from payments processed today are typically in your NZ bank account within 2 business days. Weekends and public holidays don't count as business days, so a Friday payment typically arrives on the following Tuesday.

New Stripe accounts have a slightly longer initial payout window (usually 7 days) while Stripe establishes your account's payment history. This reverts to the standard T+2 after your first few payouts.

You can see all upcoming payouts, their expected dates, and their constituent transactions in your Stripe Dashboard at any time.

NZ GST note

Badminton Village does not manage GST on behalf of clubs. You set your own session prices, and it is your responsibility to determine whether your club is GST-registered and whether GST applies to the fees you charge.

If your club is GST-registered, set your session prices inclusive of GST (i.e. the price a player pays already includes any GST component). Badminton Village will display your listed price to players as-is — we do not add GST on top.

For tax advice specific to your club's situation, consult a tax professional or visit ird.govt.nz.

Platform fee and GST

Badminton Village's platform fee is charged to clubs separately and is subject to NZ GST. A GST-inclusive tax invoice for the platform fee is available in Club Dashboard → Billing each month.

Quick FAQ

Do I need an existing Stripe account?
No. Stripe creates a new connected account for you during the onboarding flow. If you already have a Stripe account you can choose to connect it instead.
Which NZ banks are supported?
All major NZ banks (ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Westpac, Kiwibank, and others) are supported for payouts.
What currency are payouts in?
NZD. All session prices on Badminton Village are set and charged in New Zealand dollars.
Can I disconnect Stripe?
Yes, from Club Dashboard → Billing → Disconnect Stripe. Note: disconnecting prevents future card bookings. Players won't be able to book until you reconnect.
What if a player disputes a charge?
Stripe handles disputes. You'll receive an email from Stripe with a deadline to respond. Your Club Dashboard also flags any bookings under dispute. Badminton Village can provide booking confirmation records to support your response.
Is there a minimum payout amount?
Stripe has a minimum payout threshold (typically NZD $1.00). In practice, any session revenue will exceed this.
